A DAY IN THE LIFE: IZZY ESCOBAR

From Coffee Shops to Sold-Out Shows, F Word catches up with Izzy Escobar

Fresh off a sold-out night here in F Word’s home city of London, Cuban–Italian singer, songwriter, and pianist Izzy Escobar lets us step into a day in her life on tour - the coffee, the chaos, the quiet, and the rituals that keep her grounded between cities.

London isn’t just another tour stop for Izzy. After a breakup, she took herself on a solo trip here - a reset, a reckoning, a place where she somehow found pockets of joy tucked inside the hurt. So to return to this city, stand under its stage lights, and hear an entire room singing back the lyrics she wrote during that chapter… “full circle” barely covers it. It’s the sort of moment artists dream about long before it happens.

With her debut EP Sunny in London now out in the world, Izzy walks us through the inner mechanics of tour life: the vegan food hunts, the songwriting notebooks, the grounding silence before showtime, and the thrill of watching a crowd connect to her most personal stories.

F Word: Where’s your favourite place to perform? (You don’t have to be biased, but we won’t hold it against you if you are!)

Izzy Escobar: Every city has such a different energy! I love to lean into each city differently based upon that- with that said I just played a sold out show in London and it was electric… and also incredibly full circle. The concept for the album was developed on a solo trip I had taken there after a breakup so to then have others sing my lyrics back to me about the time I was in last was surreal and beautiful all at once to say the least.

FW: How do you take care of yourself physically and mentally while on the road?

IE: I love to read, write, meditate, be in nature, and explore! My inner world is synonymous to the well being of my outer world.

FW: Can you take us through a typical day in the life of being on tour?

IE: Usually I’ll wake up around 8am and find a coffee shop or make coffee, then I’ll whip out my songwriting book (I change them out for each project I’m working on) and begin ideating concepts/ themes… then come lyrics. If I’m lucky to be by a studio I’ll head there and then get started on composing the piano part and bring the lyrics I have written to life. Towards the afternoon I’ll find a vegan spot wherever I am on tour and then some nature :). I’ll meditate there for a bit before soundcheck since it grounds me. Then I pack my things and head to soundcheck where I’ll make a tea and go through a list of musical elements we need to run through. THEN SHOWTIME. And then after show it really depends… sometimes I’ll get ramen, go out with friends, or get some sleep.

FW: Performing live is such a huge part of your artistry—what does it mean to you?

IE: Performance to me symbolizes human connection. It is one of the only times people can come together from all walks of life and be under one roof with the same commonality- a love for music.

FW: Your songs are deeply personal. Are there any that are particularly difficult to perform live, either emotionally or vocally?

IE: These songs are all rather healing for me for different reasons…

Vendetta: works through betrayal

White horse: opening the heart up again

Sunny in London: finding Joy amidst pain

Nevermine: nonattachment

3 more glasses: making light of the dark- dancing!

Jackie O: love.

FW: Is there a song that you get the most excited to perform live?

IE: I love to perform Vendetta!!! It is such an empowering song to sing and seeing everyone in the audience sing along, put their hands up, and feel empowered before they walk out the doors back into the world is the best feeling .

ree

FW: Do you ever get used to a crowd of people singing your lyrics back to you? Or does it still hit you every time?

IE: Truly no! I have to say this is probably one of the most if not the craziest feeling of all time. My whole life I have always dreamt of expressing my emotions through music - so to see slivers of that being achieved fills me with immense gratitude.

FW: If this tour had a sound, a colour, and a taste, what would they be? IE: Oooooo...

Sound: Cinematic strings

Colour: deep red

Taste: chocolate covered pretzels… with a glass of red wine

ree

FW: Do you have any pre-show rituals or superstitions?

IE: I actually really like to be alone and in silence to ground myself.

ree

FW: What can the fans look forward to for the rest of the year/2026?

IE: Lots of new music… ;)
