WORDS + PHOTOGRAPHY EMILIE LOUIZIDES
Taking the stage at this year's All Points East festival in an especially sunny Victoria Park, Arlo Parks sang the words, 'you're the rainbow in my soap, you notice beauty in more forms than most,' which perfectly set the tone for F Word's third annual visit. In keeping with our ongoing tradition of reframing beauty and wondering where the people of All Points East notice it, we asked festival goers and artists alike, what are you finding beauty in right now? Wholesome and pure, their answers were as warm as the day itself, and provided moments of safety and kindness.
EL: What are you finding beauty in right now?
Oli Fox, Good Neighbours: "Family time. Us at the moment, we're on the road a lot. Kind of find it hard to find roots when I'm in different countries so whenever I am back here to ground myself with that is super beautiful."
EL: What are you finding beauty in right now?
Ava: "I'm finding beauty in seeing families together, like, the way their kids look exactly like them. It's just so beautiful, the way they're happy with them."
Fifi: "I'm finding beauty in quiet moments with my girlfriend in the mornings before work."
EL: What are you finding beauty in right now?
Wisp: "I would say, being able to travel with my bandmates. I haven't been to so many places that I'm going to right now. For example, it's my first time in London, and being able to do it with people that I love and people that I'm getting closer to everyday, I think is a very beautiful thing."
EL: What are you finding beauty in right now?
Sam Harding, Arlo Parks: "Unhindered expression, People making and doing things without trying to sell it. Just doing it because it's cool and it feels good."
EL: What are you finding beauty in right now?
Ify, Dystopia: "Everyone's fashion here. It's really inspiring to see unique tattoos, clothes, and I keep catching peoples' eyes and everyone's smiling at each other, and that's so beautiful."
Amna-Janine, Dystopia: "I'm finding beauty in the liberation and freedom of seeing something that you like or a style that you like and then trying it because you want to. It's like a way to try out new things that you wouldn't usually wear or do, and just the freedom of being like, I'm doing this because I want to, not because society's enforcing it on me type thing, or because my friends are doing it. Just doing it because it makes you feel good and going on that journey of discovering that."
Abby, Dystopia: "Just the whole aspect of live music and just because it's a big festival no matter where you go there's a different sound, a different crowd of people, and it kind of ties into what they're saying [Ify and Amna] about the styles. You can kind of tell where everyone wants to go. And just the whole idea of people being together in this space and being able to appreciate so many different kinds of music in the same location is very beautiful to me."
