Some songs deserve a little more than a pair of headphones and a walk around the block. EMMMA’s epic new single, 'Fall From Grace', which dropped yesterday alongside its accompanying music video, is one of them. Taking us on a cinematic journey that feels worthy of the big screen, the track finds EMMA exploring the grief of leaving behind a place and a life she once thought she’d have, with an honesty that hits right in the feels.
With a huge year already under her belt and a long-awaited US tour with Suki Waterhouse in full swing, things are moving pretty fast for the artist. So, we asked EMMMA to take us along for the ride, sharing a little glimpse into life on the road, the songs she’s loving performing live, and the little rituals keeping her grounded between cities.
From vocal-kit essentials to finding moments of home while constantly on the move, here’s a day in the life of EMMMA.
F WORD: You’ve got a new single release and a US tour around the corner - if you could describe this moment in your life in three words, what would they be?
EMMMA: Exhilarating, insane, anxious.
F WORD: ‘Fall From Grace’ is your next release - what do you remember most about writing the song?
EMMMA: It was mostly just so cathartic to write this song, I felt like I was really exploring expressing myself through these lyrics, so it just felt so great to be so honest and not hold anything back.
F WORD: The song is about grieving a place and a life you thought you’d have. What made you realise it was time to leave?
EMMMA: I think I was ready to leave many years before I actually left, it just wasn’t the place for me or the right time for so many reasons. It was more about waiting for the right circumstances to have the courage to actually make the move.
F WORD: You’re about to head out across the US with Suki Waterhouse! How are you feeling about it?
EMMMA: I can’t wait! Suki is such a great artist and has such an amazing stage presence I am so excited to share the stage with her. So far the shows have been fantastic and I just love her audience!
F WORD: What’s one thing you absolutely can’t go on tour without?
EMMMA: My vocal kit is my baby when I’m having an off day or feeling weird vocally or maybe even just placebo it makes me feel so much better knowing I have remedies.
F WORD: You’ve had such a huge year already. Does this next chapter feel different from where you imagined you’d be this time last year?
EMMMA: The growth I’ve experienced over the last year has been just so insane and so much fun, last year around this time I was opening for another incredible band and I have just been missing touring so much, so this feels like such a fun next chapter. I’ve always wanted to tour in America so this feels like a big step!
F WORD: Is there a song you’re particularly excited to play live at the moment?
EMMMA: 'Honey' is my favorite song to sing live because it’s so emotional, it’s just been so much fun to perform!
F WORD: When you’re constantly moving from city to city, what little things help make somewhere feel like home?
EMMMA: It never really does feel like home, but I try to get a workout in, in different cities to keep me as grounded as possible! Moving my body helps!
