SCULPT A MASTERPIECE: AN EVENING OF POTTERY WITH EMILY PROCTOR

What day could have been more fitting to participate in a pottery class where you create a goddess-inspired vase than International Women's Day? It's on this day that renowned e.p.c brand founder, Emily Proctor, welcomes you to her studio in Wood Green with a glass of fizz and some delectable snacks before guiding you through the Sculpt a Masterpiece class. This session included myself, a friend, and a mother-daughter duo (the daughter being 5 years old), highlighting how people of all ages can derive enjoyment from playing with clay. I also appreciated the all-female lineup on this particular day!

As someone who often tends to over-worry, Emily's laid-back demeanour instantly puts you at ease. She reassures you that mistakes are rectifiable and encourages you to let go and enjoy the process. After her pep talk (and a few sips of fizz), I felt relaxed and ready to immerse myself in the experience.

We then faced one of life's great questions: would my vase take on the shape of a bottom or boobs? I was naturally more drawn to the bum, so once that decision was made, we all set to work, armed with tools and clay. The two-hour session provided invaluable insights into building the vase (quite literally) from the bottom-up, handling clay, and using the tools. Emily was always on hand to assist if needed - I particularly appreciated her help in giving my bum a little lift halfway through!

At the end of the session, you leave your creation in Emily's capable hands for firing and glazing. Fast forward 2-4 weeks later, and you will receive the vase in the post - a lovely keepsake to cherish forever. Whether you're taking the class as a solo expedition to unwind, to have some silly-giggly fun with a friend, or to get messy with your mum, this class offers a wonderful experience for all involved.
