It’s all blood related. The bloodline is the bond that is the connector and the strength between sisters. There is no friend like a sister and the relationship is a complex combination of shared history and independence; a relationship that evolves and changes over time. Sisters can be your best friend, your confidant, and even your rival. What it means to be a sister is different for every pair and group of sisters, yet the bond that sisters share is perpetual.
Sisterhood can also transcend bloodlines, resembling the close kinships that women form with other women. Within the structure of patriarchy, women are pitted against each other, but sisterhood in all its formations radically defies this narrative, providing a space of support rather than rivalry. Sisterhood means a shared understanding, and always having someone there, no matter what.
While each group of sisters will have their own unique story, the creative conception of ‘It’s all blood related‘ emerged from a desire to showcase the relationships of sisters post pandemic. After many of us were kept from seeing our family, siblings Sofia and Lara Bodger wanted to showcase the intimate, beautiful and complex moments sisters share with one another. All captured through the lens of London-based photographer Gray Brame and photography assistant, Sophie Impey.
