Toronto-based R&B artist Haley Smalls returns with her first release of the year, Don’t Touch, a sleek and emotionally charged single that continues to showcase the honesty and confidence that have defined her artistry.

Blending smooth production with Haley’s signature vocal style, Don’t Touch feels both intimate and self-assured, balancing vulnerability with a refined sense of control. Rooted in contemporary R&B while still drawing from the genre’s deeper emotional traditions, the track highlights Haley’s ability to create music that feels polished without losing its sincerity.

Over the years, Haley has built a discography shaped by themes of love, loss, growth, and self-reclamation, gradually establishing herself as one of independent R&B’s most compelling voices. With over 180k monthly Spotify listeners and projects such as The Cure III surpassing 130 million streams, her rise has been driven less by industry machinery and more by consistency, creative independence, and a loyal fanbase.

Raised in Toronto by a Bajan father and European-Canadian mother, Haley’s relationship with music started early, teaching herself audio engineering by the age of eighteen before eventually taking full control of her career as an independent artist. That independence continues to sit at the centre of her work today.

A defining moment in Haley’s early career arrived in 2014, when Beyoncé shared her cover of Pretty Hurts online, bringing international attention to her music. Since then, Haley has continued to refine her sound while developing a creative partnership with GRAMMY-nominated producer Megaman, whose work with artists including Drake, Lil Wayne, and Tyga has helped shape parts of her sonic identity.

Last year’s album The Cure IV further cemented Haley’s position within modern R&B, with tracks such as Red Light and Cold Feet drawing widespread attention and praise for their emotional depth and sharp production.
