CATCH THE LIGHT BY FILIPPA K words Andrea Ward
For their pre-autumn 2019 collection, Swedish label Filippa K has taken inspiration from the long days of sun and heat experienced throughout the summer season, translating them into pieces that catch the sunlight in a light and refreshing way. This season continues to see a classic aesthetic being met with the Filippa K's highly recognizable gentle and casual feel while remaining sophisticated and elegant. The menswear references are seen throughout and draw inspiration from 1930's Hollywood movie stars such as Errol Flynn.
Filippa K has quickly become known as a brand that redefines staple wardrobe pieces with simplicity yet effectiveness elevating each piece into a contemporary line of design and style. This season sees contrasting textures working together in unison while the color palette, ranging from white and dusty pink to blue and grey, reflects the freshness of summer while entering the colder season without becoming too heavy or contrived. Knitted wool pieces come alongside the soft silks and Japanese jersey creating a variety of styling options. Each piece, when put together, create a relaxed look with drapey silhouettes for an effortlessly elegant appeal. The loose top is paired with the high-waisted trouser elevated by the light and breezy two-piece linen suit.
Photographed on the Swedish coast under a bright sun, Autumn/Winter '19 celebrates movement and those playful moments powered by the gentle breeze under the sunlight. Photographed by Angelina Bergenwall with photography direction by Jacob Tovedal, and styled by Columbine Smille this season's campaign imagery bring bright-coloured pieces together to create the perfect composition of sophistication, fashionability, and functionality; all part of Filippa K's design DNA.
