Russian-based photographer Alexander Yantushev teams up with fashion stylists Katrin Malin and Alexander Stolbov to create our latest editorial titled ‘Downtown Escaspism’ with Julia at Pret-a-Porter MMG. Inspiration comes from the Japanese style Wabi-Sabi, which evokes how beauty can be tarnished, fleeting and incomplete. A sentiment depicted through the autumnal garden. When asking Yantyushev about the choice of location he explains:

“The garden symbolises a "hidden place" in the place most visible. It is located in the heart of the metropolis, where you get a sense of security and where you can escape from reality, which undoubtedly highlights the situation of thousands of people fleeing from the suffocating ubiquitous information field. Based on these ideas and images, we wanted to achieve three facts: nothing is eternal, nothing is over, and nothing is perfect”.

An intention perfectly achieved through these striking images that showcase colour, texture and form through the beautiful silhouettes. Makeup by Ekaterina Mikula and hair by Alyona Salamatovah.
