Following its previous global success, the Converse x JW Anderson collaboration hits a new season featuring the Run Star Hike and Chuck 70 styles for Spring/Summer 2019. This has been called one of the "quintessential sneakers" of the year and will be available in stores and online from April 18th, and sees a fresh remix of the Chuck 70 Grid taking inspiration from the Converse archive prints.
The collaboration between Converse and trendsetter designer Jonathan Anderson debuted last season during London Fashion Week as the beautiful and sleek designs moved down the runway. The Run Star Hike gained instant praise and become one of the top items sought after by many across the globe as it revealed a revamped and elevated design aesthetic. Maintaining the classic Chuck 70 upper, the new drop sees some slight design modifications as well as the black option. For Converse, the engineering challenge was to keep the design and style integrity of individual parts throughout the design while still presenting a strong catalyst for the visceral reaction.
These new remixes look to craft and establish a contemporary silhouette from the classic Converse and JW Anderson Run Star Hike: One-part Chuck, one-part Runner. As a result, this new design sees a bold EVA midsole from the Converse Run Star which has been finished off with a rubber heel wrap and a distinct Star placement. This design also takes cues from the zig-zag lugged hiking boots with exaggerated tooling and bright popping colors that add high visibility to any and every look.
In addition, the two brands have introduced a Converse x JW Anderson Americana Chuck 70 just in time for summer featuring the American flag inspired aesthetic, this, was introduced in 1991 by Converse and has now been reinterpreted by Anderson with the added JWA brand monogram grid added to it and serving as its base. The combination of the Converse branding and JWA logo grid is done to perfection and while contrasting, continue to be harmonious and sleek.
The Converse x JW Anderson Run Star Hike and Americana Chuck 70 will be available globally on 18th April.
