This summer has been the summer of strong, independent female artists and added to the bag is Cookiie, or as she called herself cookie with two i's. Both hip hop artist and hat designer (look it's London - no one has only one title!), she's a multi talented powerhouse, currently celebrating the release of her new song 'Looky looky'. As the name suggests, the song is energetic and playful, a bit like Cookiie herself. Co-written with her longtime collaborator Gachi and produced by Leon Acheampong, the track is a reminder to prioritise self love and to take up space. And Cookiie, who was born in Zimbabwe and raised in London, practices what she preaches as she sings 'You want a show just book me, the one and only Cookiie' - she means business!

Cookiie’s sound is a blend of R&B, Afro, and Rap, with influences from icons like Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, and Queen Latifah. Her 2023 singles "Fashion," "Breakdown," and "Too Much Money" caught the attention of the likes of Grammy-winning producer BabyFace. With her eyes set on the future, Cookiie shows no sign of slowing down in 2024, with plans including an official launch party in late August. Our verdict? Cookiie needn't worry about being overlooked - we can't wait to see what she pulls out of her hat next!
