American sportswear house Perry Ellis has unveiled their Spring 2020 collection celebrating some of the best features found in sportswear. The new sports leisurewear collection pays homage to their rich heritage within the Perry Ellis brand which has made important contributions to the field since its foundation in the 1970s. This season sees the sportswear label taking inspiration from their iconic nineties design aesthetic and giving it a fresh revamp with reissued and reinterpreted pieces that perfectly cater to today's market.
This combination of heritage and new is seen throughout the collection not only in the design aesthetic but the colour palette which has been pulled from their archive. The striking red, white and blue combination is seamless and perfect while being elevated by the logo works seen throughout. Spring also sees the addition of new colours with hues that have been amped up to introduce a new take on the colourway where orange-red, fresh white and a brighter tone of blue are incorporated. The colour blocking has become quite a prominent feature within the collection and is best highlighted on the popover jacket with accents of seasonal yellow.
Although this season has undergone a big revamp and update on the colour scheme, the silhouettes continue to evoke the nostalgic 90s feeling while staying current with today's consumer demands. Another highlight piece within Spring 2020 is the 90’s inspired stripe track jacket which is a beautiful and fashionable piece that came straight from the Perry Ellis archives.
The reissuing continues with the staple Perry Ellis America Track Pants forge with the Perry Ellis Fast Logo to complete a subtle facelift. Other important pieces from Spring 2020 include both the solid colour and colour block hoodies, basketball-inspired shorts and the chest strip crew sweatshirts. One particular design is dominated by the Scramble Logo, which is duplicated and tossed across the sweat and crew t-shirt to produce an all-over print.
