MODELS REFLECT ISOLATION: BECCA JOHN

BECCA JOHN, 19, Bath at Select reflecting isolation

F WORD: How have you been dealing with the whole isolation thing? BECCA JOHN: I think I’ve been doing okay with isolation, both my parents are in the medical field so I can see how important it is to listen to the government advice and stay in. I’ve been trying to stay positive and appreciate the extra time to do things I wouldn’t usually be able to. I was meant to be travelling around South East Asia so that’s obviously disappointing but I’m grateful that everyone I know is safe and well at the moment.

F WORD: What have you been doing to occupy your time and mind? BECCA JOHN: I’ve started painting again for the first time in years and I’ve done some baking, I like to clean as it’s really satisfying and makes me feel like I’ve achieved something with my day.

F WORD: How are you feeling about the COVID-19 pandemic? BECCA JOHN: I’m still a little nervous as the worse is yet to come but I think if everyone sticks to isolation and follows the advice it should be okay. I’m worried for my grandma but I ring her every day to make sure she’s okay at home.

F WORD: What are your thoughts on how our government and the world is dealing with it? BECCA JOHN: I feel the government has done reasonably well although I think restrictions and isolation should have been put in place earlier once we saw the situation in other countries. It’s hard as this is uncharted territory for everyone and we’re learning as we go.

F WORD: What would be your perfect soundtrack for this time? BECCA JOHN: I can’t think of a specific song but I’ve been listening to lots of Easy Life and Still Woozy as their music is super chill which is important in this stressful time.

F WORD: What do you miss the most at this time? BECCA JOHN: I miss seeing my friends and enjoying the sun in the park. I’m looking forward to giving them all hugs and having BBQs outside on summer nights.

F WORD: Can you suggest a movie/series/or book we should check out during isolation? BECCA JOHN: 'The Nest' which is currently showing on the BBC every Sunday at 9 pm is amazing, I’m hooked and 'The Stranger' on Netflix is great too.

F WORD: A hopeful statement to encourage others: BECCA JOHN: Try and see this as a positive time to spend with family and focusing on yourself, times like these bring everyone together. The positive effect of just one person social distancing is huge so think of the difference we’re all making to society as a whole.

Favourite f-word: BECCA JOHN: Fondue.
