AMALIA FREDRIKSSON, Kensal Rise, London at Select reflecting isolation
F WORD: How have you been dealing with the whole isolation thing? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: This time is so difficult for everyone and it's hard to keep positive all the time. While keeping safe and staying indoors, meditation has helped me keep calm. Luckily, however, I have a large family and a lot of siblings to help keep me company making each moment more enjoyable. As well as keeping in touch with my friends via this app ‘house party’.
F WORD: What have you been doing to occupy your time and mind? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: To be honest, during this difficult time, I have been cooking almost three times a day, which I love. Also, baking helps me keep positive and helps to spend the time. I have been working out every day while keeping calm with morning yoga and meditation. And other nights I’ll be playing on the play station with my brothers.
F WORD: How are you feeling about the COVID-19 pandemic? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: Of course COVID-19 has everybody worried. My heart really goes out all those lives lost. It’s really daunting what's happening to our world, but all we can do as individuals now is try to keep calm and stay indoors to limit the risks.

F WORD: What are your thoughts on how the government and the world are dealing with it? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: I think the government is doing well considering the circumstances, however, I feel they may have acted a little too late and it is having its effects. However there is so much uncertainty amongst every country dealing with this right now, so of course, it’s difficult. Although now I do feel the right actions have finally been taken. As long as people respect the protocols instructed, we will get through it.
F WORD: What would be your perfect soundtrack for this time? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: Currently I'm obsessed with 1920s jazz. Really into Nina Simone especially. This isn’t usually my jam, but during this time I am cooking a lot, so it is very soothing. Another favourite is an artist called Rhye. One of my favourite songs is 'Waste'. This is definitely my vibe right now.
F WORD: Can you suggest a movie/series/or book we should check out during isolation? AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: My favourite book that I've just finished is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Its the most intriguing book I’ve ever read. Highly recommend to anyone. At the moment I’m really into psychological thrillers, so if that's your kinda thing I highly recommend Fractured (on Netflix) and Shutter Island.
F WORD: A hopeful statement to encourage others: AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: Savour each moment and stay calm.
F WORD: Favourite F-word: AMALIA FREDRIKSSON: Fabulous!
