MODELS REFLECT ISOLATION: ANDREA PROSPERI

ANDREA PROSPERI, 18, Milan at Independent Mgmt
reflecting isolation

F WORD: What are your top 5 interests?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
Learning new languages, going to the gym, singing, playing the piano and also cooking.

F WORD: How have you been dealing with the whole isolation thing?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
I initially took it easy as I thought it was just a temporary situation and that everything would have been solved quickly, but then I concretely realized that it regarded public Health Worldwide. My life radically changed and I think that isolation is the only way that we can definitely defeat the virus. Every day I imagine that the efforts that we are making will be the real solution for this global crisis.

F WORD: What have you been doing to occupy your time and mind?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
Firstly, I focused on studying and attending virtual classes, then I also thought about recreating a routine that could be adopted in a limited space, so I started cooking and spending time with my parents, reading novels in French, Spanish and Russian in order to widen my knowledge of foreign languages. Last but not least, I have a workout routine that I do every single day to maintain my physical health as well.

F WORD: How are you feeling about the COVID-19 pandemic?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
I think that COVID-19 is one of the numerous battles we’ll have to face in our lives, but I’m not worried that much about myself, but about all the financial aspects regarding families with less economic possibilities that are now struggling and working so hard for their children lest they should nor have food for themselves. I’m fortunately at home with my family but I’m wondering every day when this is going to come to an end, and especially when.

F WORD: What are your thoughts on how your government and the world are dealing with it?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
My government is now disposing of some benefits for workers and freelances, but the real problem is the way that Italy is contracting with the EU to get financial help, but especially the fact that the EU was trying to limit or even deny a concrete help. What will be the opinion that every single Italian citizen is going to have about Europe? We should move fast to prevent the economic collapse of Italian Enterprises and also tourism, which is also granted as far as we hold more of the 70% of the international cultural heritage.

F WORD: What is the best thing you’ve been able to do since isolation?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
I started learning Japanese four weeks ago and I’m progressively becoming able to have a good conversation and also write a text, that’s real progress and I’m proud of it! (日本語が大好きです= I really love Japanese, ni hon go ga daisuki desu). :)

F WORD: What do you miss the most right now (due to isolation)?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
I almost miss everything, especially my friends and the time we used to spend together, but also travelling, which is one of my favourite things to do when I’m free.

F WORD: What would be your perfect soundtrack for this time?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
It would surely be 'Lonely' by Palaye Royale.

F WORD: Can you suggest a movie/series/or book we should check out during isolation?
ANDREA PROSPERI:
As far as books are concerned, I sincerely suggest to read 'I Promessi Sposi' by Alessandro Manzoni (English translation = The Bethroted) which perfectly describes how a plague in the 15th Century radically changed the citizen’s lives (it’s also a mandatory read in every Italian school) so read it! Then I suggest the series 'How to Get Away With Murder' which can be watched on Netflix.

F WORD: A hopeful statement to encourage others:
ANDREA PROSPERI:
Nothing is eternal, this pandemic neither; it will finish someday.

F WORD: Favourite f-word:
ANDREA PROSPERI:
Fantasy.
