Joining the vast list of great and successful collaborations with retail lifestyle giant Urban Outfitters, London-born, Japanese-rooted label HANGER presents an exclusive menswear collection to celebrate their collab with UO. Headed by Claire Yurika Davis since 2013, HANGER became gained recognition for its use of latex as the main material for its collections and has since moved into different fabrications that have been slowly incorporated to their collections.
HANGER is part of a group of fashion brands that have been pushing the boundaries of fashion further and further without compromising style and functionality and for the first time, introduces us to a menswear capsule collection launched exclusively for their creative partnership with Urban Outfitters. The collection aims to provide the contemporary wardrobe with staple pieces from graphic t-shirts and sweats to jackets, trousers, and vests all with a fresh "HANGER meets UO" signature aesthetic.
In the official press release, HANGER's Claire Davis stated about the collaboration ‘Urban Outfitters is the perfect fit for the first-time launch of a HANGER menswear collection. I’ve always been asked when I’m doing menswear, so the answer is now! Even though in previous seasons we have always included a number of unisex pieces.' Davis has also expressed her excitement when it comes to the launch and shared; 'I’m super excited to launch our first dedicated menswear range with UO both in the UK and globally! Being a young and contemporary brand; we also felt our brand direction perfectly resonated with the Urban Outfitters audience and their ethos.’
When it comes to the inspiration behind the capsule, Claire looks back at her childhood as part of The Moonies, which were also known as ‘The Unification Church’. This is a worldwide new religious movement founded in South Korea, which has inspired the graphics that are featured throughout the collection.
This brand new collab is a perfect union between two brands that have a youthful heart and have been catering for the young consumer not only in fashion but in lifestyle. American-born Urban Outfitters has become a symbol of style and the "place to go" for millions of consumers every year both in-store and online across the globe. Their range of products is hand-picked to create a vast assemble that covers all the bases when it comes to building and developing a personal style.
Within the HANGER x UO capsule, the sweat is a key element and receives special attention in order to create the orange hoodie and the navy and orange sweatpants. Also seen throughout is the Japanese inspired graphics which read ‘SLEEPY CHAN’ making this the HANGER signature. The graphics presence is already highly recognisable among HANGER's consumers while being a new and great addition to the Urban Outfitters designs.
Among other stand-out pieces is the navy padded vest with front pockets along with the workwear jacket and the matching wide-fit trousers. The selection of t-shirts include short and long sleeve in white, orange, and navy and are elevated by the prints and graphics seen throughout.
HANGER x Urban Outfitters is now available online and in-stores and prices begin at £39 for tees and up to £320 for the graphics jacket.
