American footwear giant Converse is globally recognised for its signature design aesthetic and iconic logo, and, through over one hundred years since its foundation, Converse has become a staple piece in our wardrobes catering to the masses while still being able to venture deeply through complex and stylish designs. Decade after decade, Converse has been at the forefront of design innovation and the evolution of functionality. With that in mind, the American label is taking on experimenting with their classic designs while offering a fresh take - or twist - in the latest drop of the Chuck Taylor All Star-inspired sneakers.

In a recent press release, Converse stated that this new season is in principle a "commentary on contemporary mash-up culture" while in reality, or practice, it is an exploration of fashionability, functionality, and comfort without losing a great sense of creativity and self-expression. This ongoing conversation and execution of a fresh take on classic lines and silhouettes started sometime last year when Converse partnered with British designer Jonathan Anderson and from that moment on a fresh perspective was ignited. With Anderson, Converse introduced us to the Run Star Hike style merging the runway to the streets.

The Run Star Hike was reimagined in a perfect and precise way where the classic canvas upper seen in the iconic Chuch Taylor was elevated by an "unapologetic" big and bold EVA midsole that just makes it all better. The build is surely unique and has already become iconic among fashion enthusiasts who see the exaggerated rubber sole as a highlight. The Run Star Hike is the perfect combination of comfort and fashionability and will become an accessible offering from Converse to all from January 16th first available in black and white, with colours soon to follow.

Next up, Converse is introducing us to a newly crafted Converse CPX70 where Chuck’s canvas upper has once again become the starting point on which an entirely new rubber cup-sole is built around. This instalment is the merger of different components of Converse's heritage basketball products such as the heel from the bold late 1980s ERX as well as the media from the One Star and the forefoot from the Pro Leather. This is a fresh take on a classic format done in a respectiful way while still being unique through and through.

To finish off in a high note a series of Chuck Taylor All Stars and Chuck 70s are also being released in a playful way where the remix of classic styles incorporate archive prints, colour blocking, layered logo graphics and an oversized star Chuck patch.

Footwear prices on the CPX70, Chuck 70, Chuck Taylor All Star, Chuck Taylor All Star Lift and Run Star Hike range from £65-£90. Converse “Twisted" Classics will be available globally in stores and at Converse.com starting early January.
